Westfälischer Provinziallandtag in Münster

Provincial parliaments are set up in all Prussian provinces after 1815. These initially have an advising function and are subject to royal supervision.

In Westphalia the first Provinziallandtag is created in Münster on 29 October 1826. The members of the first overall political representation in Westphalia are aristocratic large landowners as well as traders, officials and farmers as representatives of the towns and urban communities. Karl Freiherr vom Stein (1757-1831) is declared chairman of the provincial parliament with the title of "Landtagsmarschall".
