1847 Inauguration of the Cologne-Minden Railway and Bergisch-Märkische Railway

Railway construction is supported by the Prussian State via interest guarantees, purchase options and concessions with the individual sections. Private entrepreneurs use these framework conditions to found railway corporations and to build railway lines throughout Germany. The Cologne-Minden and Bergisch-Märkische railways make large parts of Westphalia, the Rhineland and especially the Ruhr Region accessible after their inauguration in 1847.
